Obituary: Shirley Eileen Steen

Shirley Eileen Steen, 91, went home to be with her Lord and join her husband Orville on Feb. 25, 2013.

She is survived by her children Karen Vietmeier (Wally), Audrey Norberg, David Steen (Nola), Cindy George (Wayne) and Beverly Brandt; and her siblings, Duane Brown and Sylvia Marcotte. She has 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends who will miss her greatly.

She is survived also by her love of God and Jesus, her warm infectious smile, her love of people, a quick sense of humor, and her gentle and enduring grace.

Shirley loved to travel, sightsee and meet new people. There were no strangers to her, only friends she hadn't met. Shirley and Orville moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 1988, after spending all of their lives in Minnesota. She was active in church activities and spent much time as a volunteer for Prescott People Who Care, the Alzheimer's Association, Yavapai Regional Medical Center and Operation Gratitude. She loved to work crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She made many hand-stitched quilts for her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Shirley's life will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Prescott Community Church, 3151 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, with family visitation preceding at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers Shirley wishes donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Habitat for Humanity.
