Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters: Ruby

Ruby, 9, is very theatrical, funny and intelligent. Ruby lives with her father and grandparents in Prescott. She plays a lot of computer games, and "rowblocks" is her favorite. Ruby takes swimming lessons and is starting piano lessons soon. She likes arts and crafts and creating pictures on the computer. She would like to be a fashion designer and an athlete when she gets older. She knows that she needs to get a good education and work hard in order to accomplish these things.

Ruby loves her dog Odi and would like to be a princess or a huntress if she had special powers. She likes to talk a lot, and trying new things is fine with her.

Ruby said she wouldn't mind an older Big Sister and would like to roller skate, fly kites, go to movies, bowl, play board games, swim, camp, take pictures, paint/draw, play an instrument or play tennis. She would also like to be a Girl Scout.

You don't have to change your life to change the life of a child like Ruby. Just a few hours a couple of times a month is enough to make a difference as a Big Brother or Big Sister. You can also be a Big as a Couple Match or with your whole family as a Family Match. Research shows that kids matched with a "Big" are, on average, 40 percent less likely to get arrested, compared to all other kids their age.
