Mountain Artists Guild show, sale features works by four Prescott painters

Four Prescott-area women artists will present their annual Artists' Inventory Reduction Sale, featuring Mei-June Liao, Cathy Gibbons, Phyllis Sullins McKenzie and Jan Rooney, Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28, at Mountain Artists Guild, 228 N. Alarcon St.

This art show and sale will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. There will be a special preview from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 26, during the 4th Friday Art Walk. There will be a raffle drawing for a gift basket from the artists.

Liao lives in Prescott Valley. She began painting with pastel in 2009. Her main interest is nature and landscape. In addition to pastel painting, Liao also does oil and Chinese brush paintings.

Gibbons also lives in Prescott Valley, and paints in oil. Her subjects are landscapes and figurative in a loose colorful style reminiscent of impressionism.

McKenzie works in several media, including oil, watercolor, acrylic and mixed media. She paints in a realistic manner with emphasis on color. Her paintings are filled with personal experiences and emotion.

Rooney specializes in oils and photography, but also works with pastels, acrylics, and mosaics.
