Obituary: Mary Rose McDonald
Mary Rose McDonald, 88, died peacefully on July 11, 2013, at her home in Prescott, Ariz. She was born May 7, 1925, in Noblesville, Ind., to Charles and Eyesel Powell.
Mary Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, James V. They were introduced by mutual friends, and married in 1947 in Linton, Ind., before heading west.
The McDonalds settled in Prescott in 1964. Mary Rose retired from Global Wulfsburg Inc. Throughout her life, Mary Rose enjoyed traveling, camping, the outdoors, archaeology, and history of the American west. She was accomplished at cooking, needlepoint, knitting, gardening, and riding motorcycles, but above all was a devoted wife and mother, loving her family and her friends. She was a volunteer and docent at the Phippen Museum. She enjoyed Scrabble and crosswords and her aerobics swim class, where she made many wonderful friends. She loved spending time with her family.
Mary Rose is survived by her three daughters, Christi (Patrick) Dale, Susan McDonald and Janet Roy; and granddaughters Melissa Rose and Nicole Lyn.
A family memorial is planned at a later date. The family suggests donations to Hospice Family Care or the Phippen Museum.
