Bowl for Kids' Sake fundraising event is under way

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters Kick off Party for 2013 Bowl for Kids' Sake was Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Prescott Station. Team Captain Packets were distributed, and the race is on in forming teams and picking your dates to bowl.

The "bowling party" dates this year in the quad-city area are March 2, 3, 23 and 24, at Antelope Lanes in Prescott Valley and Plaza Bowl in Prescott.

This annual event enjoys wide community and business support, a news release states. Participants can bowl with friends, coworkers, family, or make new friends by joining one of the YBBBS teams. Companies may opt to be an Event Sponsor or help form a company team with their employees. They can even sponsor a team of children to bowl.

Bowlers solicit pledges from donors to support them. They need not worry about collecting their pledges as that responsibility falls to the YBBBS staff. Participants and their cheering supporters simply come out for a couple of hours to have a good time.

Plenty of food, beverages and prizes are available to all. Most participants bowl only once a year, at this event.

"This is our major fundraiser for the entire year," said Dusty Spitler, director of BBBS marketing. "The event is all about supporting local at-risk children and having a great time."
