Blake Krofchik, who played center for the Bradshaw Mountain High School football team during the Fall 2012 season, was named to the National Football Foundation's Valley of the Sun Chapter 2012-13 Scholar Athlete Class.

Krofchik, a 6-3, 230-pound senior, was a 2nd Team Scholar Athlete selection, announced this month.

Representing more than 250,000 students from 184 high schools in central and northern Arizona, the honorees will receive financial scholarships recognizing their excellence in the classroom, community service, leadership, extracurricular participation and outstanding performances on the football field.

The 2013 high school "Top 33" class boasts an average honors' 4.29 GPA, and all 33 have received football honors at an all-sectional, All-State or All-Arizona level.

Luke Simmons, quarterback-punter for Cottonwood's Mingus Union Marauders, was a 3rd Team selection.
