Ranked #47 in her class of 350 students, Amber Wiste is Bradshaw Mountain High School's December Student of the Month. Her grade point average of 3.75 places her in the top 12 percent of her class, but isn't the only thing that put her in the running for Student of the Month honors.

Amber belongs to the Interact Club, a youth branch of the Rotary Club, and has participated in more than 70 hours of community service projects since 2010. In 2010, she spent three days at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards leadership conference.

She is also a Big Sister with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and has given more than 40 hours of friendship to children since 2009. She has been a team leader in the BBBS fundraising program Bowl for Kids Sake in 2009 and 2010.

This is her 12th year participating in Girl Scouts of America. Since 2009, Amber has been involved in the Upward Bound trio program for college-bound students. The Bradshaw senior has been a Link Crew member for two years, helping freshmen transition into high school.

This past summer she spent six weeks working with the Youth Conservation Corps with the Prescott National Forest crew. Amber is interested in outdoors activities, including camping, hiking and fishing, and attending BMHS football games.

Teachers at the school nominate students for the Student of the Month honor. As part of the award, the designated students have their own parking space at the high school during the month, and receive two free movie tickets. The www.pvaz.net/index.aspx?page=54">Prescott Valley Town Council honors each student at one of its meetings. The Student of the Month's photo hangs in the front office of the school, and the person's name goes up on the school's marquee.
