I-17/Cordes interchange work continues
Closures and restrictions will be in effect this week on Interstate 17 at Cordes Junction as crews continue work on the $50 million modernization of the I-17/Highway 69 interchange.
A news release from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) reported that crews would be working on sign foundations and removal of dirt from the median.
From Monday through Thursday, impacts will include:
Drivers on southbound I-17 will be shifted overnight through a detour over the Arcosanti bridge to the Highway 69 on-ramp back onto southbound I-17 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Shoulder closures will take place in both directions on I-17 at the Cordes Junction off-ramp and on Highway 69 westbound (toward Prescott) between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
On Friday, shoulder closures will take place in both directions on I-17 (Cordes Junction off-ramp) and on Highway 69 westbound between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to the ADOT release, the work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signs.
ADOT is advising drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
