Obituary: Shirley Jean Shetler
Shirley Jean Shetler, 87, of San Marino, Calif., departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Granite Gate Senior Living Community in Prescott, Ariz. She was born May 9, 1925, in Memphis, Tenn., to Winfield A. and Virginia E. Peterson.
Shirley Shetler was a loving wife to Lloyd Shetler and loving mother to Doug Haeussler, her only child. She earned a B.A. in journalism from Missouri University and was employed as an editor in various publications during her career. Among her interests were painting, genealogy, travel and especially being close to family. After the death of her husband Lloyd in 1990, instead of moping, she decided to see the world! She traveled to Alaska, Australia, and even the Antarctic to see the penguins! Shirley Shelter was determined to live life to the fullest.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of almost 20 years, Lloyd Elson Shetler. She is survived by her loving son Doug Haeussler.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, with a Celebration of Life memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Shirley J. Shetler to the Alzheimer's Association.
