At their meeting on March 19, American Legion members honored those who assisted in flag raising. Only a few members are able to walk the rough ground and handle the flag and pole to raise the fifty American Flags and the five POW/MIA flags in order to fill the Cordes Lakes Avenue of Flags.

It takes Legion members about an hour to put up the flags, and longer to take them down. With the help of the community's non-members, this can be done in 15 to 20 minutes.

Community members help each other, and many honorees attended the meeting.

Each honoree was called and presented with a certificate of thanks, along with their share of the applause. Post 122 is extremely thankful for the help of these flag raisers.

When the meeting was adjourned, attendees enjoyed cake, cupcakes and assorted other goodies along with coffee and iced tea. This was a great time for members and non-members to exchange ideas, thoughts and just plain old-fashioned conversation.
