Bradshaw Mountain football can't hang with Deer Valley in loss

The Bradshaw Mountain football team found itself in a hole early and couldn't recover Friday night on the road.

The Bears were seeking their third straight road victory Friday at Deer Valley, which had come into the game losers of four of its first five of 2012. But Deer Valley found its stride against the Bears, as Bradshaw went down in defeat 42-7.

After the Sky Hawks jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead early in the second quarter, the Bears looked to keep pace. Quarterback Skylor Clinton hit Mikey Van Dyke for an 84-yard TD pass play to slice the lead to a touchdown with four minutes left in the first half.

But Deer Valley answered with a 1-yard QB keeper into the end zone just two seconds before the break, and continued the momentum in the second half.

Clinton finished unofficially with 150 yards passing, and Damian Otero rushed unofficially for 41 yards.

Bradshaw Mountain (3-4) returns home next week to take on an O'Connor team that soundly beat Prescott 31-10 Friday night. The Bears will also welcome back to Bob Pavlich Field their former head coach John Rodriguez, now the head man at O'Connor.
