Obituary: Mary Elizabeth DuCharme
Mary Elizabeth DuCharme "MeMe," 79, of Chino Valley, Ariz., passed away peacefully at the Hospice Family Care Center on Sept. 8, 2012. She was born in Chandler, Ariz., on Aug. 13, 1933, to Mae and Henry Hawkins.
In 1966, while living in Sunnymead, Calif., she was widowed at the early age of 32 and moved with her two young children to be closer to family in Wichita Falls, Texas. After her children were through college and married, she returned to Mesa, Ariz., and then in 2005, to Chino Valley, Ariz.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Scott) Johnson of Chino Valley; and her son Rusty (Kim) DuCharme of Houston, Texas. She also adored her five grandchildren, Rachel Johnson (20), Evan Johnson (16), Logan DuCharme (16), Hailey DuCharme (12) and Connor DuCharme (10).
Although the nickname "MeMe" began with the grandchildren, she was proud to answer to it by all who knew her. She loved and cared deeply for her family, splitting her time between Chino Valley and Houston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Family Care Center at the Crossings in Prescott, Ariz.
Chino Valley Funeral Home is caring for the family.
