Arrest made in Seligman shooting incident
SELIGMAN - Sheriff's deputies on Thursday arrested a man they said fired shots at a vehicle Saturday afternoon, according to a YCSO spokesman.
The Sheriff's SWAT team served an arrest warrant on William Martin, 48, of Seligman, at his home in Bridge Canyon Estates, after detectives and deputies linked him to the shooting, spokesman Dwight d'Evelyn said.
The arrest stems from an incident on Oct. 20, when a family of four was traveling in their vehicle on the Fort Rock Road at Via De Oro in the Bridge Canyon west of Seligman, Yavapai Silent Witness spokesman Steve Skurja said. They noticed a man in a pick-up truck behind them honking the horn, and the father of the family, who was driving, pulled over to see what was going on.
The driver of the truck then got out and walked toward the family's vehicle, Skurja said. The father saw that he was holding a semi-automatic hand gun and immediately pulled away at a high rate of speed.
The truck's driver shot at the vehicle five or six times, according to witnesses, but no one was injured, Skurja said.
The SWAT team took Martin into custody and recovered several guns from his home, D'Evelyn said.
Martin was booked into the Camp Verde jail on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Bond has not been set, D'Evelyn said.
