Obituary: Fernando Castillo Moreno

Mr. Moreno

Mr. Moreno

Fernando Castillo Moreno, born on March 2, 1955, was called home to be with his Lord Jesus on Oct. 20, 2012. While it was painful to watch cancer wreak havoc on his body, it was uplifting to experience the Lord work through this situation to minister first to Fernando and then to us all. Through the loss of his legs, regular bouts of nausea, incessant pain and lack of sleep, he never ceased to worship the Lord. Fernando demonstrated for us that life is fleeting, and in the end, the only things you can hold onto are the promises of the Lord Jesus. When Fernando's work was done, the Lord answered his prayer and gave him rest. He died quickly and peacefully, surrounded by family. When Fernando had his health, he loved to worship the Lord with his voice and guitar, go on motorcycle rides with his friends, be out in nature and spend time with friends and family. Dearest Papa, grandpa, brother and friend, if only we could hold you tightly one more time, to laugh and talk together a little while longer, but, I guess we will just have to hold on until we too have finished the race. Thank you Fernando for inspiring us to know and serve our Lord better. Thank you Jesus for your infinite grace and mercy! Fernando was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Betty Moreno, and his sister Mary Anne Maute. He is survived by his children Gabriel, Rachel, Ishmael and Nathaniel; his brothers, Frank Jr., Johnny, Benny; and sisters Sophia Kiggins, Ofelia Fitzgerald, Isabel O'Neal, Leepie Wrisk, Teeni Moreno, Toni Foster, Patsi Moreno, Birdi Brennan and Eileen Copeland. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel, 8480 East Valley Road in Prescott Valley, corner of Navajo and Valley Road. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Prescott Valley Christian Church, 7655 E Long Look Drive in Prescott Valley, with a burial at 4 p.m. at Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery, 12000 E. Heritage Memorial Lane in Dewey. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.
