Letter: Law for hands-free phones is needed

EDITOR:

I am becoming increasingly concerned about the number of people who are talking on cell phones while driving. I witnessed two drivers in the last two days swerving from lane to lane as they held the phone with one hand with the other hand on the steering wheel.

In both cases, I honked my horn and neither of them even noticed. Both drivers almost caused a wreck.

My sister actually witnessed a "driver" smoking and talking on the cell phone while attempting to drive. Studies have shown driving while talking or texting is like driving drunk. I strongly support a law that would require drivers to use a "hands free" device while driving.
