Prescott Police receives grants for speed, DUI enforcement
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety recently awarded $35,000 in traffic safety grants to the Prescott Police Department for increased DUI, speed, and aggressive driver enforcement as well as educational presentations.
The grants will help Prescott police continue DUI saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints conducted on an overtime basis, along with the Tri-city DUI Taskforce, Prescott Police Sgt. Corey Kasun said.
Prescott police will conduct at least one enhanced DUI enforcement detail a month beginning in October, said Kasun, supervisor of the traffic safety section. Officers also will staff at least eight speed and aggressive driver details at known problem areas throughout Prescott during the grant period which runs through September 2013.
The Prescott police remind drivers to make responsible choices and drive safely, Kasun said.
