Letter: Bravo to symphony: great performance
The Yavapai Symphony Association presented the Phoenix Symphony in the most exciting program I have ever heard. Guest conductor Sarah Hicks, along with violin soloist Elena Urioste, amazed us with their incredible talents performing the Beethoven "Concerto in D Major." The audience was on its feet.
Brahms "Hungarian Dances" came alive in the second half. But best of all, we were hearing Leonard Bernstein's incredible compositions performed with Sarah Hicks' impeccable direction and feelings. It was a joy to the whole audience to hear his music the way it should be played ... every nuance was there. You could hear everyone ready to jump to their feet the minute she and the orchestra stopped. It was one of the greatest symphony concerts I have ever attended. My praise to all who participated in creating this magnificent afternoon. I hope she will be chosen as our future director of this great orchestra.
