Cause of three-vehicle crash remains under investigation
Four people were hospitalized after a Sunday night three-vehicle collision on Highway 69, just east of Glassford Hill Road in Prescott Valley.
At about 9:45 p.m., according to Prescott Valley Police Department investigators, the driver of a 2009 Hyundai crossed over the centerline while going west on the highway. That vehicle struck an eastbound 1996 Toyota sedan head-on and also struck another eastbound vehicle, a 2006 Toyota, on the driver's side.
Firefighters from the Central Yavapai Fire District had to free a 24-year-old woman from the 1996 Toyota. She was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix with multiple injuries. Her passenger, a 27-year-old man, was taken to YRMC with non-life-threatening injuries. Two people, a 23-year-old man who was driving the 2006 Toyota and his 24-year-old female passenger, also were taken to YRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both occupants of the 2009 Hyundai, a 24-year-old driver and a 24-year-old-passenger, refused medical treatment on scene and were released. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
It has not yet been determined if impairment was a factor.
