Obituary: Margaret (Peg Shoff) Fekete
Margaret (Peg Shoff) Fekete, 87, passed away on Nov. 19, 2012, from complications of lung disease. Peg was born in Indiana, Pa., and raised in Akron, Ohio. She married John in 1946 after he returned home from a prisoner of war camp in Germany. They lived more than 30 years in Hayward, Calif., where Peg taught high school math and John was a high school coach.
Their four children survive: Jan of New York City, Karen (Daryl) Franklin of New Mexico, and John (Sarah) and Charles, both of Castro Valley, Calif. Peg leaves two grandchildren, Garrett and Zaya.
While in retirement in Sun City, Calif., Peg volunteered at the local hospital and worked part-time collecting data for the Consumer Price Index, a job she loved. She also worked preparing tax returns. Husband John was a very active and dedicated Lion, as was Peg while she joined him as he served up to and including being District Governor.
Widow Peg moved to Prescott to join her sisters, Nan Sams, Sandy Layman, Judy Rae (Jack) Haley and Sharon MacBride. She joined the Prescott Noon Lioness Club where she was active and served on the board. Her hobbies were sewing, crafts, cooking, reading, trips to Laughlin, Maui and Europe, and playing cards with her sisters.
Peg was previously a member of the Republican Women of Prescott and the DAR in Prescott.
Peg was predeceased by her only brother, William Ferman Shoff, in 2011.
Services were private and the family thanks YRMC staff and Good Samaritan Prescott Village Rehab for their care and compassion.
