Police say Prescott Valley pharmacist wrestled armed robbery suspect seeking drugs
Prescott Valley Police booked Preston A. Tisthammer, 23, of Prescott Valley into the Yavapai County jail on felony charges of robbery, burglary and possession of stolen property Friday after he allegedly tried to rob a pharmacy with a handgun.
Shortly after 8 a.m., officers responded to a robbery call at the CVS drug store at Windsong and Highway 69. Officers learned that a man, later identified as Tisthammer, entered the store, demanded prescription drugs, showed a handgun, then fled when the pharmacist refused, said Prescott Valley Police Sgt. Brandon Bonney.
"Investigators learned that Tisthammer used a stolen handgun he took from a vehicle the day prior," Bonney said.
The pharmacist, a 51-year-old Chandler man, wrestled with Tisthammer as he tried to leave, Bonney said.
Tisthammer lost control of the gun and fled on foot, but patrol officers quickly caught him and he told officers what he did, Bonney said.
