ADOT plans night work on I-17 at Cordes Junction
A number of late-night closures and restrictions will be in effect (weather permitting) on Interstate 17 at Cordes Junction this week as crews work on new bridges and remove the old Cordes Lakes Road bridge.
A news release from the Arizona Department of Transportation reported that traffic impacts on Monday and Tuesday nights will include:
Drivers on northbound I-17 will be shifted through a detour to Stagecoach Road and then to the new Arcosanti traffic interchange to continue northbound on I-17 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Drivers on southbound I-17 will be shifted through a detour over the Arcosanti bridge to the Highway 69 on-ramp back onto southbound I-17 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Crews plan no work for the Thanksgiving holiday, Wednesday through Saturday, and will resume work on Sunday night, Nov. 25.
The work is part of a $50 million project to modernize the I-17/Highway 69 interchange.
The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signs, according to the news release.
ADOT is advising drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with reduced speed limits, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
