Golf Tips With Mack: Backswing

Sometimes a golfer will ask me how to start the "backswing" in the golf swing. The answer is that the backswing should begin with the body turning as the arms and club swing up over the shoulders at the same time without sliding or swaying.

As we get a little older, this turning motion of the body gets a little more difficult because we are not as flexible as we used to be. I would suggest that you focus on the shoulder turn and specifically if you can get your left shoulder turning under your chin during the backswing. (Right handed golfer)

For practice, put a club behind your head on your shoulders and practice turning and stretching. Then as you swing try to get your shoulders turning as the club swings back into position.

Any kind of stretching exercise can help your golf swing.
