Fine art show this weekend benefits American Legion
Les Femmes des Montage, a group of local artists, will present its eighth annual fine art show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Marina Room of the Hassayampa Inn, 122 E. Gurley St.
The show features artists who exhibit locally, nationally and internationally, with jewelry, metal, glass, oil and acrylic paintings, silk, woven and beaded wearables and accessories, mosaics and 3D sculpture, along with mixed media fiber. The artwork will be for sale.
The show is free and open to the public. The local organization the artists have chosen to receive a portion of sale proceeds is the Ernest E. Love Lodge Post 6 of the American Legion to help its work with veterans. The artists also plan a drawing for a basket that includes an item from each artist. All proceeds from the drawing will be donated.
Artists who will be showing their work include:
Cindi Shaffer, a glass artist who will feature fire-printed glass pieces, glass sculpture and jewelry.
Patricia Tyser Carberry, who creates handmade glass beads and jewelry.
Jo Manginelli, who interlaces silk, chenille, bamboo, linen and other fibers into wearable art.
Bonne Van Hall, who also creates beaded wearables, jewelry and accessories.
Cathy Gibbons and Vivian Lucchesi-Farmer, who will present two styles of fine art painting. Gibbons' work in oils portrays impressionist-style landscapes and portraits; Lucchesi-Farmer's acrylic abstract paintings are filled with many layers of intense color and collaged textures.
Barb Wills, who incorporates ancient Japanese techniques into silk wearables and accessories.
Mary Schulte, who works in mosaics, sculptures and jewelry.
Juliane Ketcher, who works in mixed media fiber pieces influenced by her travels throughout the world.
The featured guest artist will be Leslie Oaks, a sculptor working in metal, who will present large and small sculptures and sculptural objects.
