Community News: Student scribes

The Youth Short Story Contest Awards Ceremony took place May 12 at Prescott Public Library. The contest, co-sponsored by Prescott Public Library and the Professional Writers of Prescott, was for students in grades 3-12. The winning entries are on display in the children's area at Prescott Public Library and online at www.prescottlibrary.info.

Elementary School Winners:

1st place - "Sierra" by Sophia Corradi, 4th grade, Liberty

2nd place - "Adventures in Subroono" by Abigail Stoecker, 4th grade, Taylor Hicks

3rd place - "A Happy Ever After" by Presley Shelton, 3rd grade, Skyview School

Middle School Winners:

1st place - "For Want of a Nail" by Johan Glidden, 8th grade, homeschooled

2nd place - "Bonding" by Crystal Pomeroy, 8th grade, homeschooled

3rd place - "Meddling Takes Time" by Glory May Owens Glidden, 6th grade, homeschooled

High School Winners:

1st place - "The Tree House" by Kyra Worden, 12th grade, Tri-City College Prep

2nd place - "Lost" by Amy Owings, 11th grade, Prescott High School

3rd place - "The Chocolate Kiss" by Anna Flurry, 11th grade, Tri-City College Prep
