Obituary: LaVerne Yarbro-Patterson
LaVerne Yarbro-Patterson, born Aug. 23, 1932, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Bonnie and Ollie Yarbro, passed away May 19, 2012.
La Verne worked at the Arrowhead Drive-In in Carlsbad, N.M., for Dr. McLaughlin in Loving, N.M., also for the Farm Bureau. She met and married James "Pat" Patterson. He worked at INCC Mines, Carlsbad Caverns and the Electric Co. In 1959, they moved to Chino Valley, Ariz., where she worked at the Chino Valley School District and the Chino Valley Truck that they owned and operated, as a cook before retiring. Pat worked for Rezzonico Dairies and Bagdad Copper Mine before he retired. They were married for 49 years.
She loved to play bingo with her sisters and was famous for her biscuits and gravy.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents Bonnie and Ollie Yarbro; her husband Pat Patterson; brother Harlan "Snooks" Yarbro; daughter LaVania Ward; grandsons, Choise Ward and TJ Petty; brothers-in-law Joe Garrett and Bryan Davis.
She is survived by her daughter Denna (Tom) Petty; son Greg (Linda) Patterson; sisters, Vada Garrett, Barbara Davis, Vonda (Vic) Wrye; brother Mickey (Linda) Yarbro; sister-in law Gerry Yarbro; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Chino Valley Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at the Chino Valley Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Pat.
