At 6:28 a.m., officers answered a call about domestic violence incident in the 3800 block of Vickie Court. They spoke with a 21-year-old woman being treated at Yavapai Regional Medical Center's East campus, who told them that a verbal argument with Vasquez that became physical when he allegedly knocked her to the ground, struck and kicked her repeatedly, according to Prescott Valley Police Sgt. The woman told officers that when the tried to leave the home, Vasquez pulled back into the home by her hair and shirt, then strangled her with his hands, Bonney said. The woman had facial and neck injuries and may have lost consciousness during this assault, Bonney said. The woman's 2-year-old child was likely present for a portion of the assault.
Officers found Vasquez at a job site in the Prescott area and, during an interview with an investigator, Vasquez allegedly made some incriminating statements about some of the woman's allegations.
