Prescott's Fine Art & Wine Festival set for May 12, 13

PRESCOTT - As an option over the Mother's Day weekend, Prescott's 26th annual Fine Art & Wine Festival will take place on the Courthouse Plaza on May 12 and 13.

"Make it a memorable Mother's Day this year with this juried festival showcasing a very select group of fine artists throughout the U.S.," stated a news release from the City of Prescott.

The festival will feature more than 140 creators of fine art. Artisans will offer hand-made creations including ceramics, sculpture, painting, mixed media, fiber arts, photography, and jewelry.

The festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 12, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 13.

In addition to the artwork, the festival also will feature the "Art of Arizona Wine" at a wine-tasting garden on Goodwin Street. The Arizona Wine Growers Association will showcase Arizona vineyards and wineries, offering up to six tastings for $12, which includes a souvenir wine glass.

Those 21 years of age and older can sample, be served by the glass, and purchase bottles of wine made from grapes grown exclusively in Arizona. Proceeds from the wine-tasting garden will help support the small business owners of Arizona vineyards and wineries.

Other features of the event include:

• "Savor Prescott" located along Gurley Street at the Courthouse Plaza, where restaurants will be offering a chance to sample their fare.

• Cottage Edibles located along Cortez Street, offering original creations such as soup mixes, jams, seasonings, and herbal arts.

• Kids ArtZone, a hands-on experience offering art activities for children and teens via interactive entertainment and education. The Kids ArtZone is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Proceeds raised at the festival benefit the Mountain Arts Guild, a non-profit origination.
