Short story writing contest open to young authors

PRESCOTT - The Prescott Public Library and the Professional Writers of Prescott are calling young authors to enter the 2012 Youth Short Story Contest.

The contest is open to young people, grades 3-12. Entrants must submit their short stories by April 1. Submissions must be accompanied by an entry form, which is available (along with contest rules) at either the library's Youth Services Desk, or online at, by clicking on the "kids" or "teens" links.

Contest organizers will notify winners by May 1, and an awards ceremony and reception will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12.

Winning works will appear in a booklet available on May 12, and prizes will be awarded at the ceremony.
