Wedding Planners find success in the details
In today's society planning a wedding has become part of pop culture. There are numerous television reality shows about wedding planning; Hollywood has decades worth of cinema on the topic. Now that you are newly engaged you are tumbling down the same rabbit hole that has been consuming brides with colors, cakes, candles and more, for generations. So how do you get out of the hole? The answer is simple, you need help; you need a wedding planner. Since it is not likely that David Tutera is coming to knock on your door and save your wedding it is up to you to find a wedding planner that will, but what do you really know about wedding planners?
Let's start with some misconceptions about wedding planners. a) A planner will take over all planning and I will not have a voice in it. b) They do not do anything a bride and her family and friends cannot do. c) I cannot afford a wedding planner on my budget. This list goes on and on. All sound like good reasons, but really they are just excuses.
Event planning is not just a hobby it is a legitimate business filled with professionals that are passionate about their job. Keep in mind that their job is you, so they passionate about YOU! Planners wear many hats, but their main purpose is to remove the stress that comes from planning off of you and on to them. They handle all the details with you not for you. A good planner listens to everything you have dreamed your wedding day would be; from the perfect place to the perfect flowers; from the food to the music and everything in between They also listen to all the fears you have had nightmares about like a stain on your gown or your second cousin Louie making a scene with your maid-of-honor. After reassuring you that your dream wedding will come true and your nightmares are unwarranted you can get down to what is important, making your dream a reality.
There are many details when it comes to creating your perfect wedding. Without a planner you will inevitably delegate some of the details to family and friends. The problem is they are volunteers and your wedding and all its details are not always on the top of their priority list. It may not ring true for you, but there is life outside of planning your wedding and sometimes the lines get muddled and feelings get hurt. We have all seen friendships end and family ties strained during the wedding planning process. The truth of the matter is that the relationships most likely would not have been in jeopardy if the stress and demands of the planning had not interfered. When you hire a planner you are their priority and the expectations are clear in the planner/client relationship.
Part of the obligations as an event planner is to stay on budget. When making a budget without a planner more often than not as the planning moves forward you realize all the details you did not add into the budget; making the budget futile. The amount you thought you needed was actually not enough. Either you will have to have the added stress of trying to get more money for the expenses or you will have to greatly compromise on your dream. With a planner there are no surprises. It is their job to make sure all the details are included in the initial budget. This is not to say that you cannot change your mind and add or subtract things later on, but you will always know exactly how much your wedding will cost.
Many times brides will get quotes from several vendors to ensure the best price. However planners work with all the vendors that it takes to make your dream day a success. You need to remember that your planner has relations with these professionals and can get better discounts than you could on your own. In many cases this makes a planner's commission very cost effective with the money you are able to save.
In truth, there is no reason not to acquire services from an event planner. They save you money and keep you on budget, intervene to keep the peace between loved ones, carry the stress and burdens of making your dream a reality and so much more.
We all know that planning a wedding can be stressful to a bride and groom and all those around them, but it does not have to be. A good planner will take the chaos of planning your wedding and leave you with the excitement and joy you should have. If you choose to hire an event planner you could be spending this special time preparing as a couple for your next step in life together, growing closer with family and friends as they come to celebrate with you, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
