Obituary: Charles Chauncey Barbour Jr.

Charles Chauncey Barbour Jr., 87, was called home to Heaven July 19, 2012, as the sun rose, creating a rare morning rainbow in Prescott, Ariz. He was born in Rapid City, S.D., to Charles Sr. and Regina Barbour.

His father's metallurgy occupation took the family across America with Charles graduating from Boulder City High School in Nevada. He joined the Army Air Force in WWII. Charles had many businesses and occupations throughout his lifetime. He worked heavy construction, designed and installed new kitchens in homes throughout Montana, did mining in Alaska and Western U.S. and, in later years, raised and showed goats and horses along with a goat dairy in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

Charles was blessed with a loving, caring family: wife Sylvia (Sherban) Barbour; daughters Regina (Dena) Fisher (Jack), Carolyn Withers (Bob), Betty Barbour, Marlene McCarty and Edwina Rose; sons Robert (Cassie), Chuck (Jan), Jim and Richard; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister Myrtle Fowler. He is preceded in death by his sons Billy and Michael, and wives Shirley, Mary and Patricia.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at the Prescott VA Chapel, with a light luncheon following at Eagles Hall on Cortez Street near Sheldon. A second memorial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at First Country Baptist Church, 12844 S. Santa Fe Drive, Surprise, with a luncheon following.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Prescott VA Hospice unit or in Phoenix to Building Fund for First Country Baptist Church.
