YHS reduces pet adoption rates for Empty the Shelter weekend
The Yavapai Humane Society asking community to take home a new pet.
YHS is throwing an Empty the Shelter Weekend today through Sunday, July 27, in an attempt to relieve crowding in the kennels. Adopters can pick their own price for any cat or kitten, and all dogs and puppies are just $25.
"July is the busiest month of the year, and we need to find homes for these terrific animals," say Ed Boks, YHS Executive Director. "We will be open until 8 p.m. tonight to encourage more folks to visit."
Volunteers will be walking dogs around the campus, sharing their favorites with potential adopters. Cat cuddlers will also be on hand to give adopters personal knowledge of available felines.
On Saturday, Magic 99.1's Leza will be at YHS from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. meeting fans and encouraging adoptions. Dippin' Dots ice cream will be selling treats with 20 percent of sales benefiting YHS animals.
"It is our hope the community will respond to this crisis," said Boks. "If you are looking for a pet to adopt, then you will not find a better time or a better selection."
