I-17/Highway 69 interchange work will cause traffic interruptions
A number of night closures and restrictions will be in effect next week at the Interstate/Cordes Junction interchange, The restrictions will include:
Sunday, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Monday through Wednesday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. - Crews will narrow the interstate to one lane in both directions to remove dirt from the median and pave a detour.
Thursday night, 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. - The highway will close intermittently in both directions for as long as 30 minutes at a time as crews work on the bridge over I-17.
Thursday, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. - The southbound I-17 off-ramp to Highway 69 will be closed to allow crews to continue bridge work over I-17. Traffic will detour three miles southbound on I-17 to Bloody Basin Road (Exit 259), and then be redirected to turn around and use northbound I-17 to reach the Highway 69 exit.
Thursday, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. - Crews will shift southbound I-17 traffic through the work zone onto a northbound lane and then back onto the southbound lanes to provide a safe work zone for crews.
Drivers should adjust their travel schedules in order to avoid the closures, or to allow extra travel time.
