Mrs. Witt

Mrs. Witt

Judith Lorraine Kay Witt was a Christian woman who was a member of the WELS for 50 years, most recently with Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott Valley. She was born in Chicago, Ill. on Oct. 28, 1935. Judy married Dick Witt on Oct. 20, 1956. Dick and Judy moved to Antioch, Ill. in 1963, and lived there for 40 years. They moved to Prescott, Ariz. in 2004.

The most meaningful part of Judy's life was being a mother. She took pride in her four children, Michael (Andrea), Mitchell, Martin and Tracy Kelly (Darren). Having seven grandchildren, added to the continuing love for her family. In addition to her family, Judy shared her love with the many friends she met along her life's journey. She was genuine in welcoming and sharing time with the people she met. She always had a positive word to say to everyone.

Her interests varied from admiring the craftsmanship of artists to professional trades-people. She had an eye for detail and could visualize changes that could improve the making of a piece of art, to remodeling a house. Judy kept up with the fashion world and was always stylish while adding her own flair. Her grandchildren, particularly her six granddaughters, benefited greatly from Judy's great taste in clothing and her love of shopping. With her routine visits to thrift stores, yard sales and swap meets, Judy also found many treasures that added unique and colorful touches to her home. Judy loved a bargain but she also knew quality and was a master at finding both.

Judy's island home on Lake Okauchee, Wis. and her ocean home in Mission Beach, San Diego always provided her with change and fun. She enjoyed taking walks no matter where she was.

Judy was an incredible fighter. She was a 40-year breast cancer survivor. In April 2011, Judy was diagnosed with lung cancer. Despite her courage and bravery, she lost her battle on June 28, 2012, surrounded by those she loved most.

Donations can be sent to Lungevity Foundation, 435 N. LaSalle St., Suite 310 Chicago, IL 60654.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Christ ELC, 3300 N. Navajo Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz.
