Inmate escapes from custody in Kingman
KINGMAN - Authorities in northern Arizona are searching for a jail inmate who escaped from a transport van outside a court building allegedly with help from his wife, who now is in custody.
Mohave County Sheriff's officials say 26-year-old Darren Eugene Morrison was being transported from the county jail in Kingman for a court appearance on a failure to appear and aggravated assault charge Wednesday morning.
They say the Bullhead City man escaped from the transport van near the courthouse's rear entrance.
Police say 24-year-old Ashley Morrison allegedly bought food, a backpack and survival equipment for her husband. The Kingman woman has been booked into jail on suspicion of conspiracy to commit escape.
Police believe Darren Morrison may be armed at this point. They are looking for a low-rider station wagon that was seen in the area at the time of Morrison's escape.
