George “Steve” Jackson

George "Steve" Jackson was born on March 24, 1937, in Mt. Ida, Ark., to Cora and William Van Jackson. Steve passed away on Jan. 14, 2012, in Mesa, Ariz.

Steve moved to Arizona when he was 14 years old. He spent 37 years working in the copper mine in Bagdad, Ariz. After he retired in 1992, he and his wife Gladys moved to Globe, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and three children, James "Bubbles" Coats, Robert and Melody Arnold.

Steve is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gladys Jackson; children Van, Steven, Ted and Trina Jackson, Cheri Herridge, Darlene Morgan, Rocky and Nolan Arnold, Shelby Kellis and Tonya Gage; 39 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at the United Pentecostal Church, 140 Rincon St., Bagdad, Ariz., at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott, Ariz.

A celebration of Steve's life will take place at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Globe, Ariz., on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m.
