Prescott and Prescott Valley McDonald's Restaurants will each be giving away to children 250 free books on Native American culture beginning at 7 a.m. Friday.

The book, "Arizona: Nations and Art," is by award-winning author and photographer Annica Benning and includes a free Happy Meal coupon.

Benning, a Hon Kachina and Governor's Volunteer Award winner, created the book at age 13 as part of a community service project to raise awareness and appreciation for Arizona's culture and to encourage early literacy. Her book features Native American crafts, such as rock art, contemporary paintings, sculptures, jewelry, baskets and weavings.

She is working with school districts and community partners to distribute 90,000 copies of "Arizona: Nations and Art" to fourth-grade students throughout the state.

McDonald's is located at 539 Miller Valley Road in Prescott and at 7500 E. Highway 69 in Prescott Valley.
