Police arrest owner of dogs that attacked two boys in Chino
Police on Tuesday arrested the owner of two dogs that attacked and seriously injured two Chino Valley boys ages 8 and 4 earlier this month.
Chino Valley police booked Chino resident Katrina Vidaurre, 39, into the Yavapai County jail on three counts of aggravated assault and two counts of child abuse.
A police investigation into the Feb. 4 incident revealed that the two children were playing with a Frisbee in the street with their 10-year-old brother. When the Frisbee landed outside the fence of Vidaurre's yard, police say, the 4-year-old went to get it and was attacked through the fence by the two dogs. The 8-year-old child went to help his brother when he too was attacked.
According to police, the 4-year-old suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Phoenix hospital for treatment. The 8-year-old was treated at a Prescott hospital.
The two dogs have been euthanized.
The two children are out of the hospital and are recovering with family. The 4-year-old has several future doctor visits scheduled to treat his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
