Obituary: Walter Robert Williams
Walter Robert Williams, 80, passed away Feb. 21, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz. Bob was born on Dec. 17, 1931, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Walter and Julia (Poindexter) Williams. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1951 and participated in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged April 1954. While serving in the military, he married Helen Erixson on Oct. 5, 1951, celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2011. After his military tour of duty, Bob worked for the Pepsi Cola Co., the Keebler Cookies Co., Briar Cliff College and the Sioux City Public Library. In 2001, Bob and Helen moved to Prescott Valley, Ariz., where he worked for the Safeway grocery store and the local Sun Shopper paper.
Bob is survived by his wife, Helen Williams; daughters Lynne (Alex) Utkin, Rohnda (David) Farley, and Kim (Mark) Davis; son Alan Williams; sister Jenice (Arley) Suggitt; and brother Kenneth (Linda) Williams. He also has seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joan Middleswart, a grandson, David Farley Jr., and a great-grandson, Shawn Nicholson.
He loved to play golf and was a member of several bowling leagues over the years. Bob loved life and being with family and friends.

There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley.
