Prep Football: Badgers replace Moran with Collette
The Prescott High football program announced Friday night that it has hired former Mesa Red Mountain High School offensive coordinator Cody Collette as its new head coach.
"After reviewing over 30 applications and interviewing eight outstanding candidates, the committee determined that Mr. Collette was an excellent fit for the Prescott High program and would lead it in a positive direction," PHS athletic director Bill White said in an email late Friday afternoon.
Collette replaces former Prescott High coach Steve Moran, who stepped down in December after one season with the Badgers. Moran guided PHS to a 4-6 overall record. He was hired after coach Bob Young returned to Cottonwood Mingus nearly a month after accepting the Prescott head coaching position.
Collette brings 12 years of coaching experience to Prescott, and prior to coaching at Red Mountain, he served as the offensive coordinator at Dobson High School. The veteran coach also has experience coaching wrestling at both Red Mountain and Dobson.
"I am extremely excited to be named head football coach at Prescott," Collette said. "Prescott has great traditions, and a wonderful community that my soon-to-be wife and I look forward to becoming a part of."
The new coach will officially meet with parents, players and the public Friday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. in the school's multi-purpose room.
