After Prescott Valley Police circulated exceptionally clear surveillance video photos - through its Nixle alert system - of two men who broke into the Discount Food Market at 8531 Florentine Road early Monday morning, an off-duty officer called in saying he knew who the two were. Officers jailed them by the end of the day.
Police are still searching, however, for what they think are multiple suspects in a break-in, vandalism and theft of jewelry at the Prescott Valley Kmart, also early Monday morning.
Prescott Valley Police spokesman Brandon Bonney said officers responded to an alarm at the Discount Food Market at about 3:20 a.m. on Monday. They found someone had broken a front window, entered the business, taken money from a register, and then fled.
After the officer recognized the two suspects from the Nixle alert, Bonney said, police served search warrants and arrested Jeremy Adam Lee Trueblood, 18, and Jeremy Edward Maness, 18, both of Prescott Valley.
Bonney said the two admitted their involvement and led officers to a surveillance video camera they had taken, along with the cash register drawer. Bonney said investigators learned the two also had tried to steal a vehicle on Florentine Road but were unsuccessful because they did not know the vehicle was disabled.
Police booked Trueblood and Maness into Yavapai County Jail on felony charges of burglary third degree, theft, criminal damage and attempted theft of means of transportation.
Shortly after 3 a.m. Monday morning, Bonney said, police responded to another alarm at Kmart on Highway 69. Officers found that someone had broken glass at the front of the store. While making sure no one was still in the store, officers discovered broken jewelry cases and missing jewelry.
Bonney said it is still unclear how much jewelry thieves took.
Police are asking anyone with information about this burglary to call PVPD Det. Oen at 772-5167 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
