Letter: Columnist misses mark on togetherness
After reading Randall Amster's column on Jan. 16, about "we embrace each other," I have to make a comment. The column started out OK, but degenerated into a left-wing hate America comment.
In particular his reference to the recent ban on the ethnic studies by the Tucson Unified School District, which he said was "out of compliance with state law," and "how such practices hark back to Jim Crow days." Well, nothing could be further from the truth.
These ethnic studies, as presented to the students, promoted racial hatred and created a hostile attitude toward America. As it turns out, these studies were encouraged by radical left-wing groups.
Mr. Amster is right about one thing. He said we must "embrace the strength of diversity or perish." So far, radical organizations are more interested in "divide and conquer."
