Registration for the Coalition for Compassion and Justice's Family Christmas event is full. Unfortunately, the stock of toys is much emptier than usual.
Diane Iverson, who coordinates CCJ's Family Christmas, explained that CCJ did not receive an anticipated donation of hundreds of toys. Parents have signed up more than 1,000 children for the event, which continues today. She estimates CCJ needs about 350 toys for every child in need to get one special gift.
CCJ has plenty of small stocking stuffers, books, puzzles and stuffed animals. Iverson said she needs gifts for children age 8 and older, including teens.
Please bring unwrapped gifts to the CCJ office, 505 W Gurley St, Prescott (on the campus of Prescott United Methodist Church) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call CCJ at 445-8382.
