Prescott and Chino Valley police traffic safety officers issued 55 citations during a speed and aggressive driver detail along State Highways 69 and 89 on Monday, Dec. 3, Prescott Police Lt. Ken Morley said.
Five officers slowed and educated drivers at high-traffic hours during the four-hour enforcement detail funded by a grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, Morley said.
Officers made 45 traffic stops, resulting in 35 speeding citations and 20 other citations for miscellaneous traffic violations, Morley said.
"The highest speed observed by officers was a motorist traveling 74 miles per hour in a posted 45-mile-per-hour zone," Morley said.
The driver was issued a citation and, if found responsible, will face a $493 fine, Morley said.
The Prescott Police Department will continue to conduct speed and impaired driver enforcement details and reminds drivers to always wear seatbelts, do not become distracted, and never operate a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
