Scott Jameson Keller, 76, of Dewey, Ariz., passed away Nov. 30, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Wayne and Doris Keller.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents and son Craig Allen.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Barb; daughter Kim of Florence, Ariz.; son Brad and granddaughter Sydney both of Dewey; grandson Connor of Florence, Ariz.; sisters Judy, Pat and Susan, all of Iowa; daughter-in-law Belinda of Dewey; and son-in-law David Turner of Florence, Ariz.

Scott proudly served with honor as a radar operator in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1954, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in economics and an MBA in finance. Scott and Barb were married on Aug. 30, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa. Scott and his family moved to Phoenix in 1969 from Ohio, and he had resided in the Prescott area since 1979. Scott was the leading force behind the Prescott Mustangs men's fast pitch softball team that won several state championships and was world ranked in the 1980s and 1990s. He served as the Arizona state commissioner of the International Softball Congress and loved the excitement and camaraderie of athletic competition. Scott enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and always looked forward to watching his granddaughter's singing performances and his grandson's athletic events. He was a lifelong dog lover, who enjoyed witty conversation and a spirited political debate. Always a big sports fan, he cheered for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State Sun Devils. Scott supported several veterans' charities and the Yavapai Food Bank. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Scott will be laid to rest at the Prescott National Cemetery in a family service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Yavapai Food Bank.

The family would like to thank the staffs of the YRMC East, Central Yavapai Fire Station 54 inDewey, Lifeline Ambulance and Hospice of the Pines for their care and compassion.

Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott has been entrusted with the arrangements.
