Paving and guardrail work continues next week on I-17 near Camp Verde
Crews will continue paving and guardrail-replacement work next week on Interstate 17 between Middle Verde Road in Camp Verde and Highway 179 (Sedona turnoff).
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) reports that drivers can expect alternating lane restrictions in both directions from 7 p.m. to noon, Sunday through Friday.
Also, from 7 p.m. Monday to noon Tuesday, the northbound on-ramp and the southbound off-ramp at the Highway 179 traffic interchange will be closed for paving. Drivers headed to Sedona from Flagstaff, as well as drivers headed to Flagstaff from Sedona, will need to go south five miles on I-17 to the McGuireville traffic interchange, turn around, and head north on I-17.
In addition, the southbound rest area at McGuireville will be closed from 7 p.m. Monday until noon Tuesday to allow crews to pave the on and off ramps.
ADOT expects minimal delays, and is encouraging drivers to allow extra time to reach their destinations.
The $4.2 million improvement project includes the removal of a layer of the existing pavement, repaving the roadway, guardrail replacement, and bridge repair. ADOT expects the work to be complete by the end of September.
