Cordes Lakes Library awards prizes for summer readers

The summer reading program at Cordes Lakes Library ended this past month with a pizza party and awards for young readers.

Jakob Duffy earned a certificate and special award for helping out at the library. A special award also went to Olivia Ramirez and Genesis Pina for their work. Librarian Cindy Simmons gave special awards to each child who put forth an effort. Emilio Ramirez won in the Under 5 category and chose a super soaker for his prize.

In the 6- to 10-year-old category, winners Kasey Adams chose a backpack, Aleigha Harding took a Polly Pocket, and Mariah Day picked the Walmart gift card. The average reading time put in by participants was about 20 hours.

Crystal Peterson, who logged in a whopping 242 hours, won in the 10- to 15-year-old group. Viola Merrigan and Katelynn Spisak also won prizes. All three won MP3 players.
