YBBBS Child of the Week: Francisco
This year, Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is celebrating 40 years and more than 10,000 children served. Have you ever been a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters? Maybe you are a former Big or Little? A former board member, sponsor or donor? Help us celebrate - sign up online at www.azbigs.org and tell us your story. Prizes will be given for the story that represents the earliest Big/Little match.
Meet Francisco. He is one of the thousands of young people whose lives have been touched by Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters. Francisco is 14 and in the 9th grade. He is a clean-cut kid. Francisco is quiet and shy and extremely well-mannered.
Francisco lives with his mother, who speaks only Spanish, and two younger sisters. He doesn't have any male role models in his life right now.
Francisco likes to play basketball and baseball and is into watching all sorts of sports. He likes the outdoors, but isn't big on fishing.
Francisco likes school and has lots of friends there. He doesn't like to read and could definitely use some help with his homework. Francisco would like a Big Brother to hang out and do fun stuff with. His mother would like him to have a Big Brother who would help him with his homework and be a good male role model.
You don't have to change your life to change his. Join Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters today by becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister to a young person like Francisco. Just a few hours a couple of times a month is enough to make a difference.
Research shows that kids matched with a "Big" are 54 percent less likely to get arrested compared to all other kids their age. For more information, call Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters at 778-5135 or visit www.azbigs.org.
