Obituary: Jim B. Edens
After a courageous battle with cancer, Jim Ben Edens Jr., 75, of Prescott, Ariz., went home peacefully to the Lord on Sept. 5, 2011. He was born in Corrigan, Texas, on Aug. 12, 1936, to James Ben and Etheldred Edens.
He graduated from Corrigan High School and then attended Harvard and Southern Methodist University.
Jim spent most of his life working in the lumber and building materials industry. He was a man of great achievements in business and life, but his heart was serving his Lord and others. He will be remembered the most for how he loved the Lord, his family and his friends. Also that he always had a good story to tell.
Jim loved life and loved people. He enjoyed playing bluegrass, flying, sailing and traveling in his RV to watch NASCAR races across the country. He was also very involved in many churches and served as an elder at Prescott Christian Church.
Besides the Lord, his great passion was his family. Jim loved to take his family, including his granddaughters, to explore the United States and parts of the world.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years Barbara; their five children, Jim Ben, Luann, Marylinn, Randy and William; four granddaughters, Leah, Carissa, Sarah and Kelsey; and four great grandchildren.
Jim's Homecoming will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Prescott Christian Church with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations made to the Jim Edens Memorial Fund at Prescott Christian Church, 501 S. Senator Highway, Prescott, AZ 86303.
Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott was entrusted with the arrangements.
