James E. Thompson

James E. Thompson of Prescott, Ariz., died of cancer Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at the Bob Stump VA Center in Prescott, Ariz. He was 68 years old.

Born Sept. 5, 1943, in Big Timber, Mont., to James and Julia (Cook) Thompson, James graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in 1961. He enlisted in the USAF and served as an airplane mechanic. He married Diana Taylor in 1964 and had three children, Rikki Lee, Raymond Michael and James Edward III.

James' passion was riding his motorcycle, and he was a charter member of the Prescott Victory Riders' Club. He also loved drag racing, and raced and built several cars. James' greatest happiness was his family, and was extremely proud of his children and four grandchildren, Alysha Thompson, William S. Boles, Chevelle Thompson and Erin Thompson.

Survivors include his brother (and best friend) R. Steven Thompson of Chino Valley, Ariz.; his children; and his grandchildren.

James donated his body to science, and no memorial is currently planned. In lieu of flowers to the family, donations may be made in James' name to Habitat for Humanity.
