PRESCOTT VALLEY - Prescott Valley police arrested a 37-year-old Prescott man in connection to the arson of two vehicles that occurred early Sunday morning at an apartment complex, said Sgt. Brandon Bonney, spokesman for the Prescott Valley Police Department.
Bonney reported Rick Fisher made incriminating statements to investigators about being at the scene of the crime and his possible involvement.
Detectives also learned Fisher might have been involved in setting fire to other vehicles in the Diamond Valley area in November and January, Bonney said. Those cases were similar in nature, and Fisher had been reported seen in the areas of the other arsons and was a person of interest, Bonney said.
Police arrested Fisher Thursday and booked him on four counts of arson and four counts of criminal damage. He remained incarcerated in the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde Friday afternoon with bail set at $20,000.
The arrest stems from an arson incident that police responded to at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Valley View Apartments in the 3800 block of Windsong Drive.
They reported $7,500 in damage to a Pontiac coupe and a Toyota pickup.
Witnesses told police about seeing a dark-colored sport utility vehicle in the area shortly before the fires started from gasoline contained in Gatorade bottles.
